2023 Toyota National Skills Award Winners

The CMI Toyota team are extremely proud to announce that two of our amazing team members were recognised for their outstanding knowledge and experience in their respective fields at the recent Toyota National Skills Awards.

Enzo Vin, CMI Toyota Guest Experience Manager and Cameron Stewart, CMI Toyota Christies Beach Apprentice Technician were named the 2023 National Skills Champions in their respective fields – what an incredible achievement!

After being named Region Champions earlier this year, Enzo, Cameron and Aaron Radogna, representing CMI Toyota Stepney in the Technician category, took part in the National Finals which were held in Melbourne at Toyota’s Centre of Excellence, representing both CMI Toyota and the Toyota Central Region.

Enzo, Cameron and Aaron, along with the other Region Champions, underwent individual testing under simulated conditions relevant to their field. This included real world scenarios in front of an audience of dealer staff, TAFE executives, senior Toyota management and a panel of judges.

Following the testing, all participants and guests were invited to an Awards Ceremony at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne to find out who our National Champions were!

Enzo and Cameron were announced as two of the National Champions on the night and were invited to the stage to collect their plaque and also give a speech.

The National Champions across the seven categories have each won a study tour to Japan early next year.

Congratulations also Aaron Rodogna who did an amazing job in the Technician category.

Drew Ford, CMI Toyota Senior General Manager, commended Enzo, Cameron and Aaron for their hard work and commitment to both the Toyota brand and CMI Toyota.

Toyota National Skills Competition

Held every year, the 2023 National Skills Development Program is designed to challenge, inspire, and always believe that the impossible is possible.

The Program distinguishes Excellence on both a Regional and National scale identifying key strengths and opportunities in developing future training to increase quality for the ideal guest experience.

Now in its 39th year, the National Skills competition is held in over 90 countries and regions around the world and is the largest annual automotive skills development program in Australia, open to Toyota employees from more than 250 dealerships across the country.

Toyota's National Skills competition features seven categories of various aspects of dealership service and draws entrants from around the country who first complete a series of online challenges and assessments.

The best of those then compete at a regional or state level before the National finalists meet in Melbourne to determine the National Skills Champions across the seven categories – Parts Sales, Diagnosis Technician, Service Advisor, Sales Experience, Technician, Guest Experience and Apprentice Technician.
